kadalundi bird sanctuary, kerala, india



KADALUNDI BIRD SANCTUARY
consisting of 25 acres of mudflats at the kadalundi river estuary, this is a wet land habitat for migratory and terrestrial birds and and a haven for environmentalists.

Terns, gulls, herons, sandpipers, whimbrels and other exotic birds flock to this place in November and return home in April.

A coastal village, it is known for its boat building expertise, the construction of the Uru, the arabian trading vessel, a tradition goes back 1,500 years.




TASARA CREATIVE WEAVING CENTER
this centre creates works of art in handloom-rugs, durries, wall hangings and bed spreads. Tasara attracts artists and weavers from all over the world and provides basis for research and workshops. The training programs on weaving and allied subjects are open through the year.
